Hit The Trails

With ideal access to some of the area's finest bike trails and bike paths, Fitchburg has become a hub for cycling enthusiasts. Designated a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, Fitchburg features two mountain bike trails, three state trails, and three local bike paths. The popular bike share program, BCycle, now has stations located throughout the city, making it easy to explore the area on two-wheels. These electric assist bikes make cycling accessible for all ages and abilities.

Check out our Biking In Fitchburg guide, with info on where to buy trail passes, where to find Fitchburg's BCycle stations, a downloadable bike map and more! You can also join the Bike The 'Burg Challenge and win fabulous prizes all summer long!

Get out and golf

Golfers, it’s time to get out there and hit the links! Nine Springs Golf & Disc Course, a beautiful golf course located in the heart of Fitchburg, is open for the season and the nine hole par 30 layout provides playability for the novice, yet still has enough hazards to challenge even the most skilled players. Disc golfers pay a flat rate of $5/weekday or $8/weekend day and play all day!

Too hot or too rainy? If the weather isn't cooperating, you can bring your game indoors to X-Golf! With locations in Madison and Middleton, X-Golf is the premier indoor golf simulation experience. Golfers enjoy state of the art golf simulators designed for all skill levels and a full service bar with food.

Splash Pad

Fitchburg’s Splash Pad is free, fun, family-oriented and the perfect way to beat the heat this summer! Water is sprayed, rained, poured and dumped from play features. The Pad has zero depth, so there’s no standing water to worry parents with smaller children. This wet and wonderful playground is fully accessible and safe for all ages and abilities. There are 3 zones:

• Toddler—with soft mists and gentle streams;

• Pre-teens—with high-energy, teambuilding activities

• Families—with dumping buckets, water tunnels and lots of good, clean fun. In keeping with Fitchburg’s green spirit, this is a recirculation splash pad. It recycles the water to conserve water resources and make it more energy efficient.

The Splash Pad is located at McKee Farms Park from Memorial Day Weekend-Labor Day Weekend! For more information and updates on any changes or closures, click here.

Pickle Ball

McGaw Park is home to Fitchburg's pickle ball courts! These beautiful courts opened in the fall of 2021 and are the perfect place to practice your game or learn how to play. You can register for clinics, lessons, leagues and tournaments, or reserve a court for when you'd like to play through the city's website.
