5 Cold Weather Favorites

We're craving piping-hot comfort food this holiday season, and our local restaurants offer some of the very best dishes to warm your heart and soul. Many of these restaurants offer curbside pick-up as well, making it extra convenient during this hectic season!

1. Candy Cane Mochas &
Gingerbread Lattes

Who doesn't crave coffee this time of year? It's the best way to conquer the colder temps and shorter days. Oasis Cafe is featuring two holiday drinks this year, Candy Cane Mocha and Gingerbread Latte. Stop at their cafe to try each of these seasonal pick-me-ups. If you're there over lunch, try some of their made from scratch soups. The soup selection changes daily, with two to choose from.

2. Tikka Masala at Haveli

Haveli Indian Restaurant, located on McKee Road in Fitchburg, features traditional north Indian cuisine and over 109 dishes. One of our favorites is the Chicken Tikka Masala. Boneless chicken breast meat is cooked in spices and a thick curry sauce, served with fluffy basmati rice. Haveli also offers five varieties of naan bread - a must-have addition to your order for soaking up all the delicious sauce!

3. Chili from Ollie's

Local favorite Ollie's is the perfect stop on a chilly evening for delicious "cozy bowls" made with local, organic ingredients. When the chilly weather hits, we love their Chili Bowl, made with roasted peppers and onions, black beans simmered with poblano, ancho, and chipotle peppers, topped with cheese, sour cream, green onions, and cilantro. Cozy bowls are served in a bread bowl - enjoy as a soup or dip!

4. Beer, Cheese and Potato Soup at the Great Dane

One of Wisconsin's specialties, Beer Cheese Soup, always hits the spot when the snow starts to fly. The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co. serves up their version of this classic, made with their own locally-brewed beer. The soup's blend of smoked Gouda, sharp cheddar, sautéed leeks and potatoes is finished with cream, chives, and homemade pretzel croutons. We suggest pairing the soup with your favorite Great Dane Brew!

5. Panang Curry At Curry In The Box

Curry In The Box is a great spot to try some Thai curries this winter, where diners can choose their level of spice in each dish. The panang curry is a delight, with tender pieces of chicken, large cubes of butternut squash, a slightly-spicy, slightly-sweet yellow peanut sauce, and generous amounts of carrot and broccoli. The portions are perfect, leaving you satisfied, but not overly full. Curry in the Box is a cozy place to warm you up on a winter day.
