Beer lovers and bike riders: Take a tour of Fitchburg’s breweries this fall! Delta Beer Lab, Hop Haus Brewing Co., and Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co. are rolling out their Oktoberfest brews for the season. Plan a bike ride to enjoy all three this autumn!
This suggested ride is an 18 mile loop around Fitchburg, with most of the ride on bike trails, or on bike paths (shared use paths separated from the road) and a few hills along the way. We recommend purchasing a trail pass for the sections on state trails.
Starting On The Badger State Trail
A good starting point is Hop Haus Brewing Co. in Fitchburg, located right next to the Badger State Trail. There is plenty of parking if you are planning to park-and-ride.
First Stop: Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co.
The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co. will be the first stop on the ride, at about the 4-mile mark. Their Oktoberfest Lager is a highly decorated beer, winning a 2022 bronze at the Great American Beer Festival! The brew is known for its malty sweetness and medium body and will be on tap at The Great Dane Fitchburg location in September. Try it with a handmade Bavarian Pretzel, served with Peck's Pilsner mustard and cheese sauce.
Next up: Delta Beer Lab
After continuing on the Capital City Trail for a few miles through the Capital Springs State Recreation Area, your next stop will be at Delta Beer Lab! Delta's Oktoberfest brew is a festbier featuring rich and toasty malt flavors, delicately balanced by a healthy dose of Hersbrucker hops, adding floral and spicy notes to this traditional lager. Stop by their merch store to get your very own Delta Beer Flannel, just in time for Fall!
Last Stop: Hop Haus Brewing Co
Bikers will go through more of the Capital Springs Recreation Area and the Terravessa neighborhood, eventually making their way back to the Hop Haus Brewing Company! The Hop Haus Oktoberfest is a beautiful amber and goes down easy. Clean, crisp and malty. A pint pairs perfectly with cheese curds or any of their burgers and sandwiches! Hop Haus will also be hosting an Oktoberfest celebration on September 27th, celebrating their 5 year anniversary of the Fitchburg location. The party starts at 11am with food and drink specials all day.
