Treat yourself to a memorable dining experience! Fitchburg is home to a deliciously unique food scene that you won't find anywhere else.

Pizza Night On The Farm

Every summer Four Winds Farm hosts their Pizza Night On The Farm, making delicious pizzas with local ingredients, baked in their brick oven. Orders are placed online, before the event, and picked up during specific times. You can take your pizza to-go, or bring your favorite outdoor chairs for a picnic on the farm.

Four Winds Farm, an expansive educational center and event space, began operations in the fall of 2020 with the primary goal of educating locals and visitors about permaculture and regenerative agriculture. The facility offers multiple rentable spaces for special events and workshops, featuring a demonstration kitchen, a library, and an expansive loft. In addition to their pizza nights, Four Winds Farm hosts other unique dining experiences throughout the year, showcasing local chefs and seasonal ingredients, including their upcoming Food Truck Fest!

The Great Dane's Beer Infused Menu

Wisconsin is blessed with a bevy of local breweries and one of the best is the Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co. Known locally as "The Dane," the brewery began in 1994 when Eliot Butler anad Rob LoBreglio, two college friends, set up shop in downtown Madison. They built the city's first brew pub, and expanded to several locations throughout Dane County, including one in Fitchburg.

Beer lovers in search of some memorable eats will find a menu that celebrates The Dane's popular brews and incorporates their beer as a key ingredient, giving their dishes a distinct flavor. Cheese curds are battered with American Pale Ale and pretzels are dipped in Peck's Pilsner mustard. Onions simmered in beer make their Brown Ale Onion Crock truly unique and their Moody blue burger includes Emerald Isle Stout grilled onions. Try to get a table on a Friday night for their fish fry, battered with Peck's Pilsner.

Brunch-goers can indulge in a Brewmaster Omelet, with applewood-smoked bacon, Smithfield ham, 5-year cheddar, Peck’s Pilsner and a cheddar mornay sauce. Save room for dessert and try their Peanut Butter Cheesecake topped with a ganache made with Black Earth Porter and chocolate.

Diners who are inspired to start cooking with beer can purchase 6-packs of Dane beer at The Fitchburg location or find brews from The Great Dane at local retailers and grocers.

Traditional Dishes at Quivey's Grove

Nestled among the maple, elm, and black walnut trees, Quivey's Grove has been a favorite Fitchburg restaurant since it opened in 1980. Forty-five years later, the setting still takes you back in time with American traditional antiques from the period, gardens to wander and buildings from the 19th century to admire and explore. Diners are welcome in The Stone House and The Stable Grill, two different settings offering different dining experiences.

The Stone House is an Italianate fieldstone mansion, with each of the original rooms decorated with Wisconsin antiques and memorabilia. All food served in the Stone House is prepared from scratch, giving diners a unique opportunity to experience the rich history of Wisconsin. Check their website for special dining events throughout the year, including holiday events.

The Stable Grill offers a more casual setting and a menu that pays homage to the local towns and farming communities of the area. The stone stable has been there since 1855, with the bar area and entryway added in 1989. The stable grill offers nightly specials, and a menu filled with favorites like meatloaf, burgers, schnitzel, fried chicken, and more. Get there early on a Friday night for an old-fashioned and their famous fish fry.

Bourbon Tasting At Flight Wine & Bourbon Bar

In 2023 Joyce and Steve Dieter opened Flight Wine & Bourbon Bar in the Terravessa neighborhood and it has since become a popular spot to try a wine or bourbon flight. Bourbon flights are a great way to explore different brands and styles of bourbon and learn more about what flavors you prefer. A bourbon's flavor can be affected by the mix of grains used, the char level of the oak barrel it's aged in, the length of aging, the distillation process and many other factors. Ordering a flight of bourbon gives you the opportunity to try a sample of three, side by side.

Flight Wine & Bourbon has curated a menu of unique bourbons for visitors to try, including bourbons from local distilleries. The Wisconsin Flight features J. Henry from Dane County, Driftless Glen from Baraboo, and Wollersheim from Prairie du Sac. They also have a flight from J. Henry with samples of Small Batch, JH Patton Road, and JH Bellafontaine Reserve. The menu also features bourbons from Kentucky, including Rabbit Hole and Buffalo Trace; and Heaven's Door and Uncle Nearest from Tennessee. Flights of Tequila, Rum, Irish Whiskey and Scotch are also on the menu, or you can build your own flight! Follow Flight Wine & Bourbon on social media to get more information about tastings, live music, and more special events.
