Welcome to the world of pickleball! This rapidly growing sport is capturing the hearts of the Fitchburg community, offering a unique blend of strategy, agility, and fun. Players of all levels are coming together at McGaw Park for exhilarating pickleball experiences that keep the community coming back.
The McGaw Pickleball Advisory Committee (MPAC), founded in 2020, has been offering residents of Fitchburg and surrounding areas the opportunity to play pickleball in a welcoming and inclusive environment. With eight courts in use, and four more coming July 2025, McGaw Park is the Fitchburg hotspot for all things pickleball. Seven days a week you can partake in various playing opportunities, including Open Play, League Play, Learn and Play/Into Classes, Pickles & Beer, and Family Fun. Beginners to pros can find their perfect match and play alongside participants in the same skill level.
Some unique offerings that MPAC provides include free lessons to beginners through their Learn and Plays. They also arrange facilitators at every Open Play who offer guidance and support to all. If you’re looking for something fun to end the work week, Pickles & Beer allows players to come together on Fridays and play pickleball while sharing beverages and snacks. With various play times and skills provided, their weekly schedule is adaptive to your calendar and expertise.
MPAC hopes to reach $50,000 in fundraising through sponsorship opportunities and donations. They eventually wish to have lighting for all the courts, more parking, landscaping, shade, shelters, a playground, and a soccer field at McGaw Park.
