Bring your appetite

What kind of cuisine are you looking for? Chances are you can find it in Fitchburg. Italian, American, Indian, Mexican, brew pubs—there’s plenty to choose from among the city’s wide variety of restaurants. (Need a suggestion? See some local favorites.)

There are also some great places to raise your glass in and around Fitchburg. The Great Dane Pub and Brewing Company is an original favorite in Fitchburg (and Wisconsin), their craft beer and local fare menu can be enjoyed on their outdoor patio, in their custom bar and dining room and upstairs in the billiards room.  You can also check out Yahara Bay Distillers, they offer tours and tastings at their modern facility on Nesbitt Road.

All year long, visitors can discover great things to do in Fitchburg, from festivals to live music and more. Here are just a few of the iconic events on Fitchburg’s calendar this year:

  • Festa Italia (May 29-31): This three-day celebration of Italian culture takes place at McKee Farms Park and features delicious Italian food, cultural exhibits, live music, cooking demonstrations, children’s activities and much more.
  • Concerts at McKee (June 15, July 20, August 17): Grab your picnic basket and a bottle of wine and head to McKee Farms Park on the third Monday in June, July and August for a series of free outdoor concerts.
  • Fitchburg Festival of Speed (July 11): Whether you’re competing or just want to watch cyclists zoom around the course at the Agora complex, this all-day festival is a bike lover’s dream.
  • 2020 Agora Art Fair (August 15): Browse through works by more than 100 Wisconsin artists, from sculptors and photographers to painters and woodworkers.

Get out and play

Fitchburg is a great place to be active, especially if you’re a biker. The League of American Bicyclists has awarded the city a silver designation as a Bicycle Friendly Community, and Fitchburg is home to several great local paths and state trails.
