So You’re in Fitchburg for the Day…

In spring, summer and fall, you’ll definitely want to start your day on one of our bike trails. Bike on one of our beautiful bikeways—Badger State Trail, Cannonball Path, Capital City State Trail, Military Ridge Path, Military Ridge State Trail or Quarry Ridge Mountain Bike Trail and Freeride Area—they all make for a day filled with adventure.  During the summer, visit Fitchburg’s Splash Pad at McKee Farms Park to enjoy some family friendly fun. At the Splash Pad water is sprayed, rained, poured and dumped from play features in a water-conserving play area. It recycles the water to conserve water resources and make it more energy efficient. Great way to cool off on a hot day!

Looking for some dining or refreshments? Head to one of our coffee shops or outdoor dining spots (many of which are  conveniently located to start or end a bike ride). Then, head to the Nevin Fish Hatchery, Wisconsin’s first fish hatchery, for a tour of the trout ponds. Call them first to inquire about times for a tour at (608) 275-3276.

During the fall, be sure to visit Fitchburg’s only u-pick farm—Eplegaarden. This scenic orchard abounds with apples, pears, raspberries, grapes and more. Be sure to visit Hatchery Hill Towne Center for your retail therapy session. To wrap up your day, you’ll have to visit one of outdoor dining options or enjoy some evening jazz at a local restaurant.

In winter, start your day by ice skating at beautiful McKee Farms Park. Then warm up by visiting one of our cozy coffee shops. There are several options in excellent locations throughout the city. Then visit the Fitchburg Public Library to catch up on some computer time or magazine reading. After the library, head to one of our spas or salons to pamper yourself with a manicure or pedicure. After your long day, you’re certain to be in need of a glass of wine or a cocktail at one of our fine dining establishments. Or, if you’re in need of an energy boost, head to our local brew pub for a game of pool. Dinner is the perfect ending to your restful day in Fitchburg.
