Fitchburg Bike Trails...
Where your biking adventure begins!
East, West, North or South…whichever
direction you want to head on your bike, the place to start
is Fitchburg. With ideal access to Madison and major State of
Wisconsin trails, Fitchburg is a unique hub to our area's outstanding
choice of biking adventures.
Fitchburg
The City of Fitchburg is known throughout the biking community
as the place to start. Seminole Highway's broad shoulders carry
hundreds of bikers a day south out of Madison into Southern
Wisconsin's endless roads.
Capital City Trail/Lake Loop
As Fitchburg's neighbor, Madison is just a trail away. The newest
Capital City Trail is paved and tours suburban and rural Fitchburg
as well as Madison. It links to urban Madison, takes you around
Lake Monona's loop and beyond. Information on Dane County's
trails and loads of other biking information can be found at
here.
Military Ridge Trail
Heading West out of Fitchburg, the Military Ridge Trail is 40
miles of fairly flat gravel trail. It follows abandoned rail
corridors through Verona, Blue Mounds and Riley, ending in Dodgeville.
A daily or season State pass is required. For further information,
contact Military Ridge State Trail at 608-437-7393.
Quarry Ridge Mountain Bike Trail
The Quarry Ridge area features trails for beginners to expert riders, including a single track loop with some technical sections. The elevated trails make this the only legal free ride area in the state of Wisconsin! Fitchburg’s Quarry Ridge Trail is located at 2744 Fitchrona Road.
Glacial Drumlin Trail
If your Fitchburg adventure heads east, try the Glacial Drumlin
Trail in Cottage Grove. It is a 53 mile trail ending in Waukesha.
Like Military Ridge, it is nearly flat gravel that meanders
through Southern Wisconsin's glacier-etched countryside. A pass
is required. A free Wisconsin bike tour guide can be ordered
at 1-800-432-8747 or www.travelwisconsin.com.
Ironman
Wisconsin
Fitchburg proves that it is the heart of all that is biking
in Dane County with the Ironman Wisconsin.
This international event starts with a 2.4 mile swim in
